Orchestra conductor takes up Fellowship in Music

We are thrilled to share the news that our conductor, Dr Adam Whittaker, takes up the Albi Rosenthal Visiting Fellowship in Music at the Bodleian Library in Oxford from autumn 2019.

Outside of his time spent conducting The Stafford Orchestra, Adam is Head of Pedagogy and a Lecturer in Music at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, having previously worked as a Research Fellow in BCU’s CSPACE, and at the University of Nottingham. Adam is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is an internationally recognised scholar in musicology and music education, having been an invited speaker at Heidelberg University, All Souls College (Oxford), and the Royal College of Music.

This fellowship gives Adam privileged access to rare books and manuscripts held in the Bodleian Special Collections, allowing him to continue his research, Centres of musical exemplarity: the Bodleian special collections.

During Adam’s absence the orchestra will be conducted by one of our own members, Dr Angela Elizabeth Slater, composer and founder of Illuminate Women’s Music.
